June 8, 2010

FEVA - Knaresborough’s renowned annual Festival of Entertainment and Visual Arts – enters its 10th year this August and promises to deliver the most inspiring programme of activities yet!The 2010 programme comprises live music, street entertainment, art, spoken word, literature & poetry events, themed occasions at various eateries, and a magical special event at Knaresborough Castle to mark the 10-year anniversary!

As always feva events will be rolled out across the town over 10-days, helping to promote tourism, providing support for local businesses, and bringing together the local community. This is a festival for all ages with both daytime and evening entertainment to suit all tastes, and with many items on the programme being completely free of charge there are no excuses for not getting involved! feva 2010 will include; Knaresborough Lions Beer Festival; practical workshops – including scarecrow-making, watercolour, poetry and drawing; a range of photography, art & craft exhibitions and a Visual Arts Trail; live music at a range of venues – something for all tastes; and Picnic in the Park at Knaresborough House, theatre performances of the much loved Brief Encounter,  plus lots more. The special event on the last day of the festival will provide a fabulous grand finale! The event is entitled ‘A Nidd Summer Light Stream’ – a fabulous light and music performance with an elevated artist who will paint a Knaresborough river scene live as his work is projected real-time onto the castle walls.

feva is organised by a passionate and dedicated team of volunteers. Tony Cerexhe was one of the founding members of the festival committee and is today committee Chair and Director of Music for feva. Tony comments “It’s fantastic to be a part of feva once again as we reach our 10th year. When we delivered the very first feva we always felt that it could have only been a one-off. Instead this is now an incredibly popular annual event that gains momentum every year. There’s now a real buzz around feva and we want 2010 to be the best yet.”

Tony adds “Each year we like to retain some programme elements, whilst enhancing the line-up by adding new names and activities to refresh the feva appeal. This year we are confident that we have one of our best-ever programmes and we are all geared up to deliver yet another successful Festival”.

feva will run from Friday 13th to Sunday 22nd August 2010. A full printed Festival Programme will be available from July at the Knaresborough Library, Knaresborough Tourist Information Centre, plus various other outlets across the town, as well as online at www.feva.info.
