Travel: Thermae Bath Spa Is Voted The ‘Best Spa In The World’

Thermae Bath Spa has been voted the ‘Best Spa in the World’ by readers of the Daily Telegraph’s Ultra Travel Magazine.

Thermae was awarded the accolade at a glittering awards ceremony at the Dorchester Hotel, Park Lane in London on Monday 10th May 2010.

This is the second time the day spa, which opened in 2006 in the heart of Bath, has been voted as the Best Spa in the World by Ultra Travel readers.

A member of staff from each department within Thermae Bath Spa, including housekeeping, lifeguards and Reception attended the event.

The ULTRAS awards are voted for by the readers of the Daily Telegraph’s ULTRA Travel Magazine.

rftpdaypeople3The awards in this highly respected travel magazine feature such categories as top hotels, resorts, tour operators and airline companies.
Last year the winning Spa was The Grove (UK), with Thermae Bath Spa being placed as one of four runners-up along with Chewton Glen, UK, Chiva-Som, Thailand and Sandy Lane, Barbados.

Thermae Bath Spa Managing Director Henk Verschuur said: ‘We continue to invest in our facilities, so it is particularly satisfying to see that these improvements are appreciated by our guests. I am also grateful to all members of our staff who work really hard to provide a good service, so it is fitting that a member of each team was able to attend this flagship event in London’.

Thermae Bath Spa’s Marketing Manager Peter Rollins said: ‘It is hugely encouraging to be chosen for such a prestigious award and it provides an impetus to Bath’s position as a quality spa destination in this country and overseas.’

The glittering award ceremony was attended by leading travel writers and celebrities, including Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, former Bath rugby player, Simon Halliday, former England cricketer and Strictly Come Dancing winner Darren Gough, actress Patsy Palmer from Eastenders and Boyzone’s Ronan Keating.

This year’s runners-up in the Best Spa category were Chewton Glen, UK; Chiva-Som, Thailand; Gleneagles, UK; and Shangri-La’s Villingili Resort, Maldives.
