Gardening: Frogmore House, Windsors Royal Gardens Opening For One Day Only
April 14, 2010
Windsor’s royal gardens are open to the public for one day only to raise money for the Animal Health Trust
Veterinary charity, the Animal Health Trust (AHT) is to benefit from an open day at Frogmore Gardens, Windsor, by gracious permission of Her Majesty The Queen.
The Queen, Patron of the AHT, based in Newmarket, Suffolk, has chosen it to profit from this special event, on Wednesday 19th May 2010. Frogmore House and Garden is rarely open to the public so this is an opportunity not to be missed.
The beautifully landscaped gardens surround 17th century country residence, Frogmore House, which lies in the tranquil setting of Windsor Castle. As well as being well-renowned for the spectacular gardens, Frogmore is home to a magnificent 18th century lake. A favourite residence of Queen Victoria, the Mausoleum where both she and Prince Albert are buried also stands in the gardens.
Visitors can also discover Queen Victoria’s Tea House, The Duchess of Kent’s Mausoleum, The Indian Kiosk and The Swiss Seat.
On the special fundraising open day, guests have the unique opportunity to take a guided tour with Neil Dodds, Head Gardener at Frogmore. These tours will be at 11am, 1pm and 3pm and are set to be extremely popular so booking is recommended.
Frogmore House itself will also be open to the public, giving guests a rare opportunity to view Queen Mary’s Flower Room, The Duchess of Kent’s Sitting Room, The Green Pavilion and The Colonnade.
All proceeds from the day go directly to the Animal Health Trust to help save the lives of horses, dogs and cats in the UK and across the world.
Make sure you don’t miss out on your chance to visit these wonderful historical gardens and raise money for a fantastic cause at the same time!
