The Severnside Military Show this year will be held on the Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th of June with a large gathering of armour, jeeps, trucks and enthusiasts. The event has moved from Kemble and will now be held at the Severnside Vintage showground in Cambridge, Glos.

The new venue provides a laid back, friendly atmosphere for all of the family to enjoy. And what’s more it won’t break the bank, gate prices are lower than last year and a family of four can have a great day out for less than £20.00!

The Severnside Military Show is one of the largest in the UK and will be packed with exhibits; there will also be plenty of action to see at the event with dramatic demonstrations and battle re-enactments. The Screaming Eagles Living History Group will be keeping the crowds entertained with their displays depicting the American 101st Airborne Division, made famous in the BBC series Band of Brothers. The group presents how these men both trained and lived in the events leading upto and during the Normandy landings in June 1944 and beyond to the final outcome of the War in May 1945.

The Military Vehicle Trust will display more than 200 military and classic vehicles including armoured vehicles, Jeeps, military cars, monster military trucks and motorcycles.

If a slower pace of life sounds more favourable, the large militaria market and trade stands will have you engrossed for hours. What’s more, a First World War field kitchen in operation along with demonstrations of wartime cooking will give a real feel for what wartime living was like. Or you can visit the fully licensed beer tent watching performances of 1940s traditional lindy dancing by Gloster Jive and Swing – whose founders, Gary and Sara Boon are UK champions. Many army regiments are represented along with wartime veterans such as the Royal British Legion.

Each year the Severnside Military Show supports several local and national charities by donating profits from ticket sales. This year they are continuing to support Help for Heroes raising vital funds for wounded servicemen.

John Keedwell, director of the show, says: “Each year, we attract different military vehicles, including some of the rarest in the world. With the many other attractions for the whole family to enjoy, we aim to be the best military show in the south-west. The change of venue enables us to set up a close knit, friendly event and reduce our ticket prices to help everyone suffering in the credit crunch.”
