For the truth behind life on-set, look no further than the make-up artist’s trailer…

In 1916, a young cameraman, Ambrose March, was killed on the Western Front. His astonishing and beautiful shots of soldiers, living and dying, were testament to his talent and brought the horrors of war home for the first time. Fast-forward and now a major Hollywood movie is about to recreate his story…

Rory Defoe, leading man and Hollywood bad-boy is giving a stellar performance as Ambrose March. With a reputation as a lady-killer off-set he has developed a keen interest in Carey Sloan, the new girlfriend of the film’s Russian billionaire producer, Anton Klubcic. It’s well-known that Anton is hugely possessive of his girlfriends and anyone that crosses him lives to regret it. With the movie’s future in Rory’s hands, Hayden, the director, is in free-fall and desperate to save his prize project when he enrols the help of Rory’s make-up artist, Ella Buchan. Passionate about the movie, Ella is willing to help but as her involvement becomes more personal, will she be able to play her allotted part in the action and ensure the story of Ambrose March is told.

ABOUT LOUISE HARWOOD:

louise-harwood-photoLouise Harwood grew up in Shropshire, one of four children, and had a typical rural childhood before attending Durham University. After university she joined Curtis Brown, the Literary and Talent Agency before moving to Random House as an Editor commissioning commercial fiction and non-fiction. With successes that included Rolf Harris’s True Animal Tales, Louise was inspired to write after being part of the team that pitched to buy Marian Keyes’s novels. An unsuccessful bid meant Marian was published elsewhere, but as part of the pitch a selection of mocked-up jackets had been created and Louise remembers thinking ‘I’d like to write the book that would fit these jackets’.

A major turning point in her life, Louise started writing and then had her first son, Tom. She left Random House and went to work part-time at the Christopher Little Agency, just as they realised what they had in J.K.Rowling’s incredible Harry Potter series.

She then moved to HarperCollins just as her first novel was submitted to a number of publishers. An auction ensued and Pan Macmillan won the day.

Now a full-time writer, Louise lives in Oxfordshire with her husband and two children, Tom and Jack. She loves riding and owns two horses, Ollie and Percy. Her father-in-law is the renowned author, playwright and screen-writer, Ronald Harwood, who won an Oscar in 2003 for his script of The Pianist and a nomination for the Best Adapted Screenplay in 2007 for The Diving Bell and the Butterfly.

Kiss Like You Mean It is Louise’s fifth novel. She researched the novel and a make-up artist’s life by spending time on the set of The Young Victoria. Her previous novels include Six Reasons to Stay a Virgin, Calling on Lily and Hippy Chick.
