February 12, 2010
Iconic British mustard brand Colman’s is sponsoring this year’s British Pie Awards, which will take place on Wednesday 19 May in Melton Mowbray.
“The awards are a celebration of British pies in all their varieties. Like pies, Colman’s is an icon of traditional British cuisine, making it the perfect partner for the British Pie Awards,” says Matthew O’Callaghan, Chairman of the Melton Mowbray Pork Pie Association.
Colman’s heritage, products and iconic branding are world-renowned, and their mustards, defined by their taste and strength, have been giving everyday British food a tasty kick since 1814.
“Colman’s are very proud to sponsor the British Pie Awards”, says Rachel Wright, spokesperson for Colman’s. “It’s the perfect fit, as Colman’s is all about making tasty food taste even more delicious”.
The British Pie Awards will take place in the magnificent setting of St Mary’s Church, Melton Mowbray. Judges are set to include celebrity foodies and pie experts including Nigel Barden, Charles Campion and Annie Bell.
Last year saw a convoy of pies from every corner of the country, including professional bakers and butchers eager to showcase the best in the business. The final pie showdown was a closely-fought contest, with Sainsbury’s Melton Mowbray Pork Pie produced by Walker’s Charnwood Bakery declared the first-ever British Pie Awards ‘Supreme Champion – Pie of Pies’, beating off more than 500 rivals.
