Extra: WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME PICASSO, MATISSE AND CHAGALL CAME TO BRISTOL?

December 7, 2009

Picasso, Matisse and Chagall will be at The Bristol Gallery for three weeks only from Thursday 3 December until Thursday 24 December 2009. Over 90 affordable, original, signed and limited edition artworks by these three legends of modernism will be in Bristol for a limited period only. Prices are suited to a variety of budgets, ranging from £400.00 to £4,000.00.

“When Matisse dies, Chagall will be the only painter left who understands what colour really is,” so claimed Picasso in 1964. The last major UK pairing of Matisse and Picasso was Tate Modern’s magnificent 2002 international touring exhibition; almost a decade later, The Bristol Gallery in association with Goldmark Gallery is proud to reunite them, adding Chagall into the mix. Long regarded as the three titans of colour, form and line Picasso (1881-1973), Matisse (1869-1954) and Chagall (1887-1985) shaped the history of modern art in the twentieth century with their explosive handling of materials in the production of masterworks of abstract modernism. Between them they developed some of the most significant advances in twentieth century art. This is a rare opportunity to own your own genuine limited edition Modern Master print.

Situated on Bristol’s prestigious Harbourside development, The Bristol Gallery is one of Bristol’s most exciting modern and contemporary art spaces. This exhibition runs for three weeks only.
