Walking: Stade Orientation Walks Launched
July 2, 2009
A weekly guided tour of the Stade*, Hastings’ historic fishing quarter, has just been launched. The tour takes in a number of attractions which include not only the picturesque fishing beach but the Fishermen’s Museum and the Shipwreck & Coastal Heritage Centre.
Priced at £2 for adults and £1 for children the hour long Stade Orientation Walks are part of the Stade Education Project, a three year Heritage Lottery Funded project designed to give people a chance to learn and enjoy the cultural and environmental heritage of the Stade.
Starting from the Old Town Hall Museum in the High Street, Hastings Old Town, Stade Orientation Walks are led by volunteer guides and take place every Saturday at 2pm throughout the summer season (June – September). Places on the tour are limited to 15 people per tour and places are allocated on a first come first served basis on the day.
The walk covers some uneven ground and as such is not recommended for people with wheelchairs/mobility problems. Tailor-made tours can be arranged.
