Some of the country’s finest contemporary musicians are set to perform to an audience of around 2,000 at the first ever Fiddles and Drams event. The two-day musical extravaganza – which celebrates Scottish talent – will take place from Friday 28th to Saturday 29th August at the specially created CO2 (neutral) arena in the grounds of Winton House – a beautiful, historic country estate close to Edinburgh.

Rob Steadman, events and marketing manager of Winton House, says, “The idea for organising a large musical event at Winton House had been swimming around for a while. We pushed ahead with the creation of the concept of the Fiddles and Drams event following the launch of VisitScotland’s series of HomeComing events.

“This event has been assisted by a grant from East Lothian Council and financing by the Scottish Government, European Community and Tyne Esk Leader fund. The funding has enabled us to showcase some of the best musical talent Scotland has to offer as well as offering a fun day out for families, singles & couples. Hopefully the great British weather will be on our side, although all concerts and ceilidhs are under cover so there’s no need to worry about being ankle deep in mud or having to wear the latest in bin liner couture! All kilt/tartan wearers over the weekend will also be treated to one free drink – an incentive not to be ignored.”

Rob continues, “The estate and its surroundings offer stunning scenery and spectacular countryside and we hope to keep it that way. We are striving to leave as small a carbon footprint as possible from this event as we are already a Carbon Neutral Venue. We are encouraging visitors to use the shuttle bus service, car share, or hire a minibus if travelling in groups. In this instance parking is free.”
