Health: Fitness first members to go a million miles in support of the British Heart Foundation.

May 1, 2009

We are thrilled to have the support of Fitness First,” said Douglas Rouse, Head of Corporate Partnerships at the BHF. “Events like the Million Miles Challenge play an important role in helping raise awareness of heart disease – as well as raising vital funds to fight it.”

Only 40 per cent of men and 28 per cent of women in England do the recommended amount of exercise (1) – and doing five 30 minute sessions of moderate intensity exercise each week could cut the risk of heart disease by half.

Challenge participants will be entered into a prize draw to win a premium, all inclusive Almond Resorts holiday for two to Barbados or St Lucia (www.almondresorts.co.uk) or a luxury UK weekend break for two courtesy of Red Letter Days (www.redletterdays.co.uk).

Fitness First members are being encouraged to fill in their record card achievements at www.bhf.org.uk/fitnessfirst to help reach the million mile target.
