Eco-lutions Technical Director, Neill Gaffan is an electrical engineer with 14 years experience across the entire electrical spectrum, from Industrial control and automation through to audio visual systems. He has completed projects in the UK, Russia, China, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Germany, Austria, Ireland and Greece. He said of his collaboration with Aralia Garden Design, “We have been very fortunate to be asked to contribute our technologies and expertise to Patricia Fox’s Chelsea flower show garden. This is a very exiting opportunity and will allow us to enhance what will already be a fabulous garden, but also showcase some of our products and design flair”

Added value and energy efficient solutions are critical to every Eco-lutions design project and as such the entire lighting power consumption in the garden will be less than a standard 100w domestic light bulb! Everything in the garden is bespoke, from the beautiful hand made kitchen cabinets made from Massaranduba hard wood (FSC approved) to the growing boxes which are integral to the kitchen cabinets have been waterproofed using the very latest green roof technology. They are painted with a waterproof liner, to fully seal the units, several layers of various materials are then introduced to allow water to be stored for later use by the plants and any excess water is drained away by a mini drainage system. A contemporary overhead pergola will incorporate galvanized steel uprights and curved overheads to support edible crops.

Raised beds will contain salad and fruit crops such as lemons, strawberries, baby leaves and runner beans. Although the garden will essentially be green, accents of colour will be introduced via lime green and purple foliage and flowering crops such as nasturtiums and lavender.
