Theatre: National Theatre UPDATE

April 3, 2009

ENTRY PASS & A NIGHT LESS ORDINARY

Entry Pass, the NT’s free membership scheme offering £5 tickets to 15-19 year olds for all NT productions, has extended its membership to 15-25 year olds as part of the NT’s involvement in A Night Less Ordinary. The first ticket booked by members is free; each subsequent ticket will cost just £5.

A Night Less Ordinary is an Arts Council England scheme, supported by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, to get more young people into theatres across the country. The £2.5 million scheme will provide 618,000 free theatre tickets to anyone under 26 in more than 200 venues across England, between February 2009 and March 2011.

Entry Pass offers members much more than just £5 tickets: there are a range of workshops throughout the year and the opportunity to join the professional critics at NT press nights to review the shows. Reviews are posted on the dedicated Entry Pass website, which also features information on every production at the NT, staff insights and a members’ discussion board.

WATCH THIS SPACE
1 July – 27 September, Theatre Square

After last year’s summer washout, we brave the elements once again for Watch This Space, the National’s free festival of al fresco performance. Join us on the Astroturf three-piece suite for a rich variety of theatre, circus, dance, music and spectacle under a (hopefully) sunny sky. The National’s free outdoor summer festival runs from 1 July to 27 September, offering plenty of exhilarating world-class entertainment. A full schedule will be available from early May.

Square2
Following 2008’s sell-out performances, we open up Square2 again for more outdoor theatre, including the outstanding Polish company Teatr Biuro Podròzy with the return of their hugely successful Macbeth: Who is That Bloodied Man?, and the premiere of their latest production.
