Theatre: Swan Lake
March 5, 2009
As part of the exciting season of Spring Dance at the London Coliseum for 2009 the highly distinguished American Ballet Theatre company is performing SWAN LAKE set to Tchaikovsky’s magnificent score at the London Coliseum.
American Ballet Theatre has long been recognised as one of the world’s top dance companies. It performs for more than 600,000 people each year and has toured to over 40 countries around the world.
With a place firmly at the top of the ballet canon, Swan Lake tells the classic story of Princess Odette who is turned into a swan by the evil magician Rothbart. The ballet has been revised and performed countless times around the world but this American Ballet Theatre production is based on the definitive Petipa and Ivanov production which was originally presented at the Mariinsky Theatre in 1895.
Set to Tchaikovsky’s magnificent score, and featuring lavish costumes and sets, ABT’s spectacular Swan Lake has captured the hearts and minds of audiences worldwide.
