Walking: Lose Lbs by raising £££s!
January 6, 2009
We’ve just been through that time of year again… Office parties, tins of chocolates on every desk, after work drinks and mince pies… a time of year when most us gain a pound or two. But that’s just on the negative side.
From a positive perspective, it’s the season of goodwill! We all have time out of the office and can forget about the stresses and strains of work for a few days. It’s the time of year when we’re encouraged to embrace that rosy-cheeked festive cheer, discover the real meaning of Christmas and think about helping others.
CARE International are taking the negatives and the positives of Christmas, rolling them up and gift-wrapping them into one big New Year’s proposition for anyone with a sense of adventure and a fondness for a challenge!
Here’s an opportunity to harness that wonderfully warm sense of seasonal goodwill in a way which will help you to lose that unwelcome Christmas paunch! An incentive to get out of the house, put the Christmas jumper to good use, and escape to the great outdoors. Motivation to get you training again after the excesses of the festive season. And a chance to make a lasting difference to families whose Christmas day will be nothing more than yet another in that yearly cycle: 365 days, each of which are the same- an uphill struggle.
Challenge Yourself
The CARE Challenge Series is made up of 12 exhilarating outdoor events for teams and individuals. Events range from the infamous UK 3 Peaks Challenge to the demanding Lake District’s 24 peaks challenge and beyond- both fantastic hiking events. Challenges include the 3 Peaks Spain and Scotland Challenges as well, for those wanting to go further afield than the classic UK 3 Peaks! Participants can also cycle from London to Brighton, or London to Paris- and a host of other rewarding hiking, biking and canoeing events.
The most important challenge of all will be to raise valuable funds to support CARE, whose vital work helps over 55 million people in 70 countries to find a route out of poverty.
Says CARE Challenge Manager Michele Evans, “Every event in the CARE Challenge Series is a fantastic personal challenge as well as a unique team building and networking opportunity. It’s the ideal New Year’s Resolution, combining training together with the worthwhile goal of supporting CARE’s poverty fighting programmes overseas.”
Why not sort out those resolutions and sign up for an incredible New Year’s commitment: to challenge poverty and challenge yourself.
