Music: Concerts Galore at The Musical Museum – Winter and Spring Dates Announced

1 January 2009 – 2.30pm – Gala New Year’s Day Concert: Musical Museum aficionados can start the New Year in style with a concert combining a selection of Viennese favourites with a touch of the Last Night of the Proms. Michael Broadway will be one of the guests; and concert goers will be greeted with a glass of Buck’s Fizz on arrival. All tickets £12.50.
17 January 2009 – 8.00PM – The Words and Music of Andrea Black with Friends: Experience the mellow, yet vibrant music of this finely tuned British artist. “Imagine a touch of Carole King, Kate Bush and Goldfrapp,” explains Michael Ryder. The concert will feature Emily Burridge on cello and Mark Black on percussion. All tickets £8.
7 February 2009 – 7.30pm – Wurlitzer Concert: Former Blackpool Tower organist, Kevin Grunhill, now resident at the brand new “Scarborough Fair” comes south to entertain. All tickets £10.
9 February 2009 – 7.30pm – Richmond Arts Council Fundraising Evening: Authors Anne Sebba and Anne de Courcy will discuss their biographies of Jenny Churchill and Anthony Armstrong Jones, respectively, chaired by Lee Langley. The American pianist, Miriam Brickman will give a recital and Richard Cole, Curator of the Musical Museum will be at the Wurlitzer. All tickets £15.00
14 March 2009 – 7.30pm – An Evening of Silent Film featuring Donald McKenzie: An evening recalling a long lost era, with silent films shown with musical accompaniment on the Wurlitzer, recreating cinema going as it used to be. All tickets £10.
26, 27, 28 March – Thursday and Friday 7.30pm; Saturday 2.30pm and 7.30pm – Offenbach’s Robinson Crusoe: Presented by 2×2 Opera, a community opera group based in St Margarets, and providing an opportunity for young people from local schools and keen amateurs to work alongside professional singers and musicians. Led by an experienced director and conductor, the opera has been adapted and condensed, making it suitable for audiences of all ages. Ticket prices: Adults £12; Senior Citizens £9; Children and other concessions £5.
3 April 2009 – 7.30pm – Fast Forward Figaro: Presented by The Friends of The Musical Museum, a light-hearted musical entertainment based on Mozart’s comic masterpiece ‘The Marriage of Figaro’. Performed by international artists Janis Kelly, Marie Angel and Howard Moody. All tickets £10.
10, 11, 12 and 13 April 2009 – Easter Weekend sees the Museum featuring conducted tours, family trails and Easter competitions. Normal Museum entry price.
18 April 2009 – 7.30pm “The Organist Entertains” a Wurlitzer Concert: featuring BBC Radio2 organist Nigel Ogden making a welcome return to Brentford. All tickets £10.
