January 6, 2009

The Musical Museum (Brentford, West London) home of one of the world’s largest collections of automatic musical instruments has published its exciting and packed calendar of events for the Winter and Spring 2009 season, coupled with a reminder that its shop has Christmas gifts galore for those interested in all aspects of music.

“Our events are designed to appeal right across age and interest groups and range from a Gala New Year’s Day Concert to family trails and competitions; and from an evening of silent films with traditional musical accompaniment to a community opera group offering opportunities for young people and keen amateurs to get actively involved,” explains Michael Ryder, Chairman of the Museum.

“We are also launching a series of ‘At the Piano’ Friday afternoon concerts – informal concerts using music rolls from the Museum’s huge collection of 30,000 organ and piano rolls,” he adds. “Richard Cole, Curator of the Musical Museum, will be hosting this new series of concerts featuring a selection oflight music in the informal setting of one of our Galleries at the Museum. We have four ‘At the Piano’ concerts planned for the Winter and Spring season – 16 January; 20 February; 20 March; and 17 April. Each will begin at 2.30 and finish at 4.30, with an interval for light refreshments. There will be a charge of £7.00 for each concert in this new series.
