Health: World’s smallest hearing aid – it is funky!

January 5, 2009

The world’s smallest hearing aid has been launched weighing just 1.1 grammes including the battery – this is the equivalent of a £20 note.
It’s being hailed as a breakthrough for the 2.5 million under 60′s who refuse to wear aids fearing the old age stigma.  The tiny gadget unveiled by hearing experts Resound uses a unique design that’s invisible in the ear and is a third of the size of the current smallest hearing aid.

Research by Resound shows that 68% of people in the UK would pay for cosmetic surgery, dentistry or designer glasses, yet just 32% would pay for a hearing aid.  A hearing aid is still viewed as ageing as a walking stick or a zimmer frame!
