2. Cricklade – Gold – Small Town
Cricklade proudly boasts that it is the first town on the River Thames. It is a town with a rich historical past and traditions.

Autumn/winter
Cricklade museum houses more than 8,000 items in its collection. The main strength of the collection lies in objects from the 19th and 20th centuries. There are research resources for family tree searches.

Spring/Summer
The unique North Meadow with its massed snakehead fritillaries in the spring are an unforgettable experience, thought the RHS judges. North Meadow Nature Reserve is about 20 minutes walk north west of Cricklade town centre and well worth a visit. In spring the blanket spread of fritillary is outstanding.

3. Ravensfield – Gold – Small Village
If one is looking for the epitome of village life then look no further than the village of Ravensfield. The judges thought this delightful community in South Yorkshire was a colourful and most attractively presented village.

Autumn/Winter
Ravesnfield is teeming with wildlife and the village boosts many wildlife trails.

Spring/Summer
A colourful and most attractively presented village said the judges.

The colourful horticultural presentation witnessed throughout the village is of an exceptionally high standard and it is clearly visible even if just driving through.

4. Clifton Village, Bristol – Silver Gilt – Urban Community
Clifton can be proud of its fine quality landscape - it is one of those places that seem to have it all.

Autumn/Winter
Bristol Zoo – the fifth oldest Zoo in the World. This 12 acre site in Clifton is packed full of amazing animals and a wide range of seasonal family fun events.

Spring/Summer
Bristol’s New Botanic Gardens, nature reserves and special conservation areas - Clifton Downs were highlighted by the judges. They found the areas beautifully managed providing tranquillity and peaceful beauty spots.

5. Herm – Gold – Coastal (12k & Below)
The Island of Herm is the perfect holiday destination, no cars; no congestion simply stretches of unspoiled beaches and a very warm welcome from the island’s residents.

Autumn/Winter
Judges noted that the Mermaid public house and the two beach cafes were delightful.

Spring/Summer
The judges found the management of natural areas, including the sand dunes and common excellent. Look out for Herm’s lush tropical displays.
